How do you measure true wealth?

 

In life, we tend to measure wealth by physical items such as possessions and money; in truth, these are a good way to see how financially secure one may be. Within this, we also look towards how good of a life someone is enjoying, how well they garner support and influence opinion, and even whether they attract friends to widen their social circle. However, is material wealth really the best indicator of real wealth?

 

In short, the answer would be ‘no’ because material wealth doesn’t cover the wealth that is earned such as goodwill, respect, reputation, and recognition. Furthermore, it completely ignores personal values and the emotional side of a human being. Let’s take a deeper look at these;

 

Respect and Recognition – In essence, this often comes with age and how people grow both as a person and in their professional capacity. Also, it can show how people contribute and influence within their personal and vocational lives.

Reputation and Goodwill – Over the years, reputation and goodwill are both earned steadily by being someone who is trustworthy, reliable, and balanced. Often, it will come in achievements and how society perceives those, but it also comes with simplicity and humility.

 

Emotional Balance and Empathy – Ultimately, this can be a little harder to notice because people will often be very different in public than they would in private. Despite this, there are key scenarios that give people away from such as when they look for support or when others are at their mercy. Also, it can be seen when dealing with those who differ in opinion.

 

Fair Play and Justice – With this, it mainly comes from the principles that one adheres to, and this can develop from an upbringing, courage/conviction, and personal values. Often, those who are willing to hold the minority point of view is considered the strongest of all.

 

In these four sections, you can see that a lot of ‘worth’ comes from what other people think of you and this is important because it suggests the legacy that you will leave behind. Before finishing, we have a couple of simple exercises to try today;

 

#1 – Right now, grab a piece of paper and write down five things that you believe people value in you. Then, write a couple of criticisms and what you can do to improve these things.

 

#2 – Are there any social problems that tend to annoy you? If so, are you going to do something about it if something can be done at all?

 

#3 – Finally, try and test yourself on some of the classic scenario-based questions to gauge your responses. For example, would you point out that a teacher has given you extra marks if it means that you fail an exam? Would you hand in a missing wallet? After lying about not having someone’s possession but actually losing it, would you have the courage to hand it back after finding it?

 

As there is more to life than material wealth, it can be important to take the time to assess all sides of wealth and how you can become a better person all-around.

As we start to build success and money in our career, it is surprising how often we forget about ourselves. As we grow, we have this fantastic opportunity to discover ourselves and progress, but we don’t utilize it. Stubbornness is Fine – When we hear the word ‘stubborn,’ we instantly think of it as a negative word, but this doesn’t have to be the case. When it comes to your dreams and aspirations, it is perfectly fine to be stubborn and stand up for yourself. Develop an obsessed mindset, and you will achieve a lot and accelerate self-growth.

 

Tomorrow is a Gift – Just like today, tomorrow is never promised, so you need to make the most of each day as it comes. As they say, ‘treat each day as your last,’ and you will make more progress than ever before.

 

Have Niche Qualities – Sometimes, we push ourselves too far in our journey to be great at everything when this is something that is nearly impossible. When we even attempt it, we are pulling our focus in too many different directions, and we end up failing at nearly everything. Instead, just pick a few of your most passionate goals and aim at working on them consistently. As long as it contributes to health, love, wealth, and happiness, it is well worth your effort.

 

Watch Others – Remember, there have been people that have followed the exact same path as you before. As soon as you realize that the people who have already completed the journey have left information behind, you will have advice for every step of the way. If possible, contact leaders in your field and ask them for help because they have been where you are, and they know the challenges you face.

 

Knowledge and Action – If you are to progress, you need to find the right balance between knowledge and action. According to a recent report, there are 130 billion books in existence which presents a lot of knowledge. Sometimes, you just need to take action because this is something that is lacking in the world.

 

Habits are Key – When we start new habits, many people give up because they don’t believe that they will have the willpower to force it forever. However, this isn’t necessary because it is believed that only 66 days of willpower are required until something becomes a habit.

 

Time is Valuable – Finally, you should never take advantage of time because we can never get it back. Instead of complaining, worrying, and regretting always maintains a positive attitude and never let something bother you now that you won’t remember a year down the line.

 

If you are experiencing success in your career but leaving your personal life behind, these are some great steps to take. Let’s make the most of every day and appreciate the sanctity of life!

Improving Your Self-Esteem

Often, we hear about ‘self-esteem’ and how it can be ‘low’ or ‘high’ but what exactly does this mean?

In essence, self-esteem measures the value of which we see ourselves. If we don’t value ourselves or our contribution to the world, we are said to have low self-esteem. If the opposite is true and we are full of confidence, we can have a high self-esteem.

 

Unfortunately, too many people in this world don’t value themselves, and it can have a detrimental impact on life, career, personal relationships, and more. For this reason, we have three key things that you need to do to turn this around and become a better version of yourself.

 

Accept Yourself – As soon as you are able to accept yourself for who you are, you can start to judge yourself rather than comparing yourself to the people around you. Regardless of how much effort you put in, there will be some people that you don’t click with but this doesn’t reflect poorly on you; this simply means that you aren’t quite right for each other.

 

Remember, you are a great fit for many people in this world because there are over seven billion of us. When you find your fit, you will grow while wanting to grow as opposed to being asked to grow.

 

Give Up – Although this may sound odd, we don’t mean that you should give up entirely, we mean that it is entirely okay to give up some things. For example, give up on trying to make everybody in your life happy, give up on the people who don’t respect you for who you are, give up on people who continue to hold you back while you’re trying to progress.

 

As children, we are told never to give up, but you have to know that there are certain things that you absolutely have to give up to see progress and improve your self-esteem. Rather than letting bad habits or negative people drag you down, give them up and look towards a better future.

 

Remember Your Strengths – At all times, you need to remember that you are unique and giving it your best shot at this one chance you have on planet earth. When you do something, it is valuable, and you have unique skills, talents, and abilities that make you who you are. In this world, there are certain things that nobody knows or can do better than you can. If you ever doubt yourself, remember this as well as the fact that failure will also teach you important lessons so sometimes it is ok to make a mistake.

We all need a reminder on what to do when tough situations arise..

 

In life, there is going to be tough times. Whether you are currently going through something right now or are trying to prepare if something was to happen, shit will happen. However, there is something we can control – how we react. Ultimately, the key is often not to let the tough times get the better of you. Of course, the key question is – how do we do that?

Accept that people make mistakes – When you think of tricky times you have been through before, it is likely to bring back anxiety and sadness. With this in mind, it means that you’re still attached and affected by some ideal. At first, it can be hard to notice this, but you have to if you want to move forward. If a family member hurt you, this still hurts because they aren’t supposed to do this (in theory). To progress, you have to notice this and then let it go. How? By realizing that every human makes mistakes and that, even though it hurts, it has to be accepted.

 

Be overly Grateful – Secondly, you must always find something to be grateful for in every single moment. When life kicks us to the ground, it can be hard to be grateful, but this is a powerful technique if you can master it correctly. How? Above all else, you have to live in the present because this is the only way you can recognize what’s in front of you. As soon as you do this, you can accept reality and make the best of a bad situation.

 

Judge much less – If you continue to judge something or someone, there is no way you will ever move on. If you still hold onto blame (even towards yourself), you have to let go of this judgment otherwise, the pain will stay with you for years to come. Even if you aren’t pleased with what happened, you can still relieve yourself of the burden by letting go of judgments. If you manage to do this, it doesn’t mean that you support what happened but rather you want to release the negativity and accept it to then move on.

Attend to others – Finally, place your focus on someone else rather than thinking you are the center of the universe. By doing this, you are getting out of the ‘how does it affect me’ mindset. Once we have someone to focus on, we stop feeling sorry for ourselves and realize that we were over-worrying about something that isn’t important. Again, this will lead to a removal of negativity and will allow you to accept and move on.

 

As mentioned at the beginning, it is all about how we react and how we pick ourselves up from the ground. By following these simple tips, you will be putting yourself in the best possible position for happiness.

For example, what is the point of being worried about failure? All that will do is guarantee that you won’t succeed because you won’t even try. If you try, at least you are giving it your best shot. We spend half our life worrying about what people might think, about failure, about our previous mistakes, but you need to overcome this to move forward.

Looking In The Rear-View Mirror – You would never drive a car looking in the rear-view mirror so why do we live our lives constantly looking backward? If you keep looking back at all the failures you have made, you will never have the opportunity to put it right and progress right now. What happened in the past has gone, there is no way you can change it so start looking at the now and the future instead.

Although we mainly choose to look back at failures, looking back at ‘what used to be’ can be equally damaging. Again, maybe you have had some good times but you need to focus on the now otherwise your future will suffer.
