The Importance of Negative Life Lessons

Let’s start this with a question – when you look at the people at the top of your desired field, do you think that they have ever been through negative experiences? All things considered, this could be a failure, mistakes, and just negative issues that affected their development. Of course, the answer to this is ‘yes’ because everyone has hard times. However, it is how we react and respond to these that will allow us to progress in life.

When we look for ways to grow as a person, we normally look for success and good decisions. However, as counter-intuitive as it sounds, there is something to be said for learning the negative life lessons. When we were children, our parents would tell us not to play in the street while we learned other things to avoid ourselves. Despite this, we seem to lose this as we grow older until we only focus on what we should be doing. Why is this the case?

Whether it is for our personal lives or in regards to our career, learning what we shouldn’t do is vital. Therefore, the negative life lessons provide us with opportunities in which we get to know ourselves and how to progress. In business, you have to learn not to treat employees poorly. Otherwise, they lose motivation and productivity decreases. In a relationship, yo have to learn not to cut your partner from important decisions otherwise they feel as though their opinion isn’t important. Too often, people see negative experiences as a sign that they should stop, turn around, and run in the opposite direction. Instead, they should be used as opportunities to grow and develop as a person.

In truth, we could take this a step further. Not only is it important to learn from our mistakes, but it is also valuable to learn from the mistakes of others. If you sit and watch as a friend or colleague fails in some way, you would be foolish to go out there and attempt the same thing. Regardless of the source, the people around you will provide you with opportunities to learn, so you need to snap them up whenever they arise.

So far, we have used the term ‘negative life lessons, ’ and this is because they result from negative experiences. However, a good mindset to adopt would be one that sees all life lessons as positive. When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, the world would be changed forever, but not many people know that he actually failed many times before. In fact, he failed in his creation around 10,000 times. When questioned on this ‘failure,’ he noted that he didn’t fail 10,000 times, he simply found 10,000 ways in which the light bulb would not work. When you think about it, this is a beautiful statement, and it sums up the point we have been discussing today.

As soon as you learn to see all lessons as positive, the faster you will make progress towards your goals. Always seeing success can be great but what if you could consistently see success while knowing exactly how to avoid failure? If you put a lot of effort into something only for it to fail tremendously, take a step back and realize how good this can be. Of course, you are entitled to a few seconds of being disappointed, but then you can focus on how not to make the same mistakes in the future!

Keep Your Distance From These Types of People

Look out for these 6 types of people to avoid becoming one of them..

In life, we are told to be happy because this can influence other people too. Does this mean it reflects in the opposite way? Yes, people around you will feel negative if you project it onto them. However, rather than looking at how you can affect people, we are going to look at how other people can influence you. For this reason, we have six types of people you should avoid if you want to keep the right mindset in life.

Note: The names used do not reflect real people, focus on removing the types of people not everyone you know with the names we will use!

Negative Nigel – Sooner or later, you will come across people who will only talk about the negative things in their life, and you need to keep your distance from them entirely. If you spend too much time around them, their negative mood will affect you and distract you from your goals.

Gossip Gloria – Some people just love to gossip, and although it is natural to a point, you should never spend your time with people who gossip all day long. Rather than focusing on other lives, focus on your own and you will make more progress.

Party Peter – now and then, we all need to spend some time away from work and let our hair down. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to go out every night. Not only will this drain your body and mind of all energy, but your wallet will also see the consequences. As soon as you can walk away from this type of person, you can start to introduce healthy habits like getting up early in the morning.

Judge Julia – At no point in your life should you feel as though someone is beneath you; for this reason, you need to be around people who don’t judge. Every person on this planet is unique, and so the only acts you should be questioning are your own; after all, these are the only ones you can control and change.

Complaining Carl – Just like the negative person we discussed previously, the complainer likes to whine about every little thing. From the weather to the price of a loaf of bread, they make it their life’s ambition to complain every day. If you fall into this habit, you will struggle to see the bright side of situations and your positive mindset will be gone.

Bully Brenda – Finally, you should also stay away from those who like to bully. Regardless of whether they are bullying you or someone else, you want to be around people that are genuinely pleasant and are happy not to change other people. Over time, they will change, and they will see that it is themselves with the problem, but you don’t have to be a part of this.

These are six types of people you should try and keep your distance from; if you can do this, you will be keeping all unnecessary negativity away from your life which will then allow you to stay positive and focus on growth and progress.
