Therefore, you need to spend some time getting to know your body and receiving help if you cannot get a good night’s rest.

Meditation – If you are religious, you can pray and if not just indulge in a short meditation session. Even if it is just 10-15 minutes, this quiet time by yourself should be focusing on gratitude for what you have as well as the desire for what you want to achieve both short- and long-term.

 

Physical Activity –  Even if you can’t make it to the gym in the mornings, go for a short run, walk, or workout in the garden. Once you get the heart pumping, you will improve your mood and get ready for the day ahead. Working out first thing in the morning will help kickstart your metabolism and overall energy levels.

Rather than going for the toast or bagels, try and look towards eggs and meats. Even if you don’t eat dairy or meat, you will find your fix from greens, nuts, seeds, and so on.

Cold Shower – In 2007, a study revealed that cold water is better in the shower because it promotes physical and mental wellbeing. Why? According to the research, the cold water activates neuro-chemicals that improve your mood which sets you up for the day.

 

Get Inspired – Rather than scrolling through social media, find something that inspires you and does it in the early morning. For example, you might prefer an audiobook, a book, music, or whatever it may be. To save time, you could do this while exercising.

 

Review Your Vision – By now, your goals should be written down on paper, and you should read them every morning. If you read these goals and your plan in the morning, you will be less inclined to procrastinate through the day.

Reputation and Goodwill – Over the years, reputation and goodwill are both earned steadily by being someone who is trustworthy, reliable, and balanced. Often, it will come in achievements and how society perceives those, but it also comes with simplicity and humility.

 

Emotional Balance and Empathy – Ultimately, this can be a little harder to notice because people will often be very different in public than they would in private. Despite this, there are key scenarios that give people away from such as when they look for support or when others are at their mercy. Also, it can be seen when dealing with those who differ in opinion.

 

Fair Play and Justice – With this, it mainly comes from the principles that one adheres to, and this can develop from an upbringing, courage/conviction, and personal values. Often, those who are willing to hold the minority point of view is considered the strongest of all.

 

In these four sections, you can see that a lot of ‘worth’ comes from what other people think of you and this is important because it suggests the legacy that you will leave behind. Before finishing, we have a couple of simple exercises to try today;

 

#1 – Right now, grab a piece of paper and write down five things that you believe people value in you. Then, write a couple of criticisms and what you can do to improve these things.

 

#2 – Are there any social problems that tend to annoy you? If so, are you going to do something about it if something can be done at all?

 

#3 – Finally, try and test yourself on some of the classic scenario-based questions to gauge your responses. For example, would you point out that a teacher has given you extra marks if it means that you fail an exam? Would you hand in a missing wallet? After lying about not having someone’s possession but actually losing it, would you have the courage to hand it back after finding it?

 

As there is more to life than material wealth, it can be important to take the time to assess all sides of wealth and how you can become a better person all-around.

Often, we hear about ‘self-esteem’ and how it can be ‘low’ or ‘high’ but what exactly does this mean?

In essence, self-esteem measures the value of which we see ourselves. If we don’t value ourselves or our contribution to the world, we are said to have low self-esteem. If the opposite is true and we are full of confidence, we can have a high self-esteem.

 

Unfortunately, too many people in this world don’t value themselves, and it can have a detrimental impact on life, career, personal relationships, and more. For this reason, we have three key things that you need to do to turn this around and become a better version of yourself.

 

Accept Yourself – As soon as you are able to accept yourself for who you are, you can start to judge yourself rather than comparing yourself to the people around you. Regardless of how much effort you put in, there will be some people that you don’t click with but this doesn’t reflect poorly on you; this simply means that you aren’t quite right for each other.

 

Remember, you are a great fit for many people in this world because there are over seven billion of us. When you find your fit, you will grow while wanting to grow as opposed to being asked to grow.

For example, give up on trying to make everybody in your life happy, give up on the people who don’t respect you for who you are, give up on people who continue to hold you back while you’re trying to progress.

 

As children, we are told never to give up, but you have to know that there are certain things that you absolutely have to give up to see progress and improve your self-esteem. Rather than letting bad habits or negative people drag you down, give them up and look towards a better future.

 

Remember Your Strengths – At all times, you need to remember that you are unique and giving it your best shot at this one chance you have on planet earth. When you do something, it is valuable, and you have unique skills, talents, and abilities that make you who you are. In this world, there are certain things that nobody knows or can do better than you can. If you ever doubt yourself, remember this as well as the fact that failure will also teach you important lessons so sometimes it is ok to make a mistake.

Don’t take it personal, it’s all personal..

Ever since we were young, we would be told ‘not to take things personally’ but this is one of those things that is easier said than done. No matter how hard we try, we can’t help taking things personally because everything in life can be seen as ‘personal.’ When someone comments on anything about us, it is a comment on a personal level. However, there is one big factor that we forget – perspective.

In truth, perspective is something that we always need to be aware of if we aren’t going to let things get us down. As we go through life, we have a system of set opinions and beliefs, and when we come across someone new, we expect them to be the same (or at least see things from our perspective). However, this doesn’t happen, and it can lead to problems. Because we don’t all have the same vantage point in life, we all offer different perspectives and opinions. If we all had the same viewpoint, life would be boring because everyone would agree with everything you ever said and did.

If we look at your personal life, it is the same because you have a perception of how you look, how you act, how people think you act, and how you compare to others. When someone steps up and tells you something different, it is easy to get offended. However, they have been brought up and have gone through life with the same process as you…but with completely different perceptions.

With this in mind, you have to build a resistance and transform your ego into something more solid. If you let go of your ego and your preconceived beliefs, you will be happier to ‘go with the flow’ and be unaffected by what’s going on around you. When you take something personally, this is feeding your ego and making your perceptions stronger, but it won’t allow you to be free when it really matters. We have all developed an ego-based self-image, and it damages friendships and relationships every single day; to prevent this, you have to let go of your ego and be free.

If you allow yourself to open up to the experiences life has to offer, there is no way that this resistance or fear can influence your decisions. If you decide that not every situation has a person to blame or something to judge, you will be free to move down your path with grace. Why? Because you will be embracing who you are rather than putting up a shield that prevents people from getting close. This brick wall that has been sitting in between you and others will be removed, and there will be nothing to take personally. As soon as you open yourself up, you will find your path in life and decisions suddenly become a lot easier because you are…yourself.

This is a quote that should be said and listened to far more often than it is nowadays; we all want to find success whether it is in our personal lives, in our career, in a sports team, in absolutely anything and everything that we do. However, no matter how close we get, we tend to make the mistake of choosing the quickest journey to get there.

 

Sport is a fantastic place to witness this because it is experienced every single year all around the world; for example, basketball teams that go 3-1 up in the play-offs. For some reason, once they go one game away from winning the series, they start to play differently because they are looking for the quickest route of success. This was seen just recently as the Warriors came from 3-1 down to win the series 4-3 and go through to the finals. How did they do this? They trusted their ability, they trusted their preparation and they trusted the process.

This should be taken advantage of every single day and used to get exactly what you want in your personal life as well as your career. If you have a goal for your career and you get close, don’t suddenly chase the quickest route of reaching your goal, trust the process and continue with what you have been doing. This process is clearly working so why would you risk changing it? Ultimately, it may take a bit longer but as long as you have the faith, it will happen.

 

Life is tough; there is always going to be somebody waiting around the corner ready to trip you up, there is always going to be a pitfall for you to get hurt by. As long as you put your trust in the process, you will be staying safe from these setbacks. This does require a certain personality and it can be hard to get used to because from the outside, it may look as though you aren’t making any progress but you will know that you are doing the right thing. Others will get frustrated and will become impatient which simply leads to failure.

 

This isn’t just a method that ‘could work’ or that ‘has potential’, this is proven and can help in a number of different areas of your life. People use this every single day whether they are trying to maintain a personal relationship, climb the proverbial ladder in their career, or even trying to lose weight when on a diet.

BECOMING WHO YOU WANT TO BE – My 3 Tips

Do you find yourself with a distinct lack of motivation to wake up in the morning? Have you ever looked in the mirror only to ask ‘how did I get here? This wasn’t the plan!’? The fact of the matter is;  your life is in your own hands and if you want to change it, only you have the tools to do so.

Let’s start this off with a little exercise; where do you see yourself in five years time? It’s as simple as that, look ahead five years and notice what is different from your life now. You can then look ahead to how your life will be in five years if nothing changes. If the two are vastly different, you have to make some changes starting today.

 

 

Here are my 3 tips to become the person you want to be:

 

#1 Start Today – Let that exercise be the motivation to make a change today. If you find yourself in somewhat of a rut, whether it is due to work, relationships, location, or more, try to make it your goal to achieve that vision that you have for yourself in five years time.

It is very easy to feel down after thinking about the plans that you had for your life and then to notice how none of them have been achieved but what good will this do? This still won’t allow you to achieve your goals so instead, feel motivated so that you don’t have the same conversation with yourself another five years down the line.

#2 Create A Vision – You should use the vision you just thought about to create an image of where you want to be in life. Don’t just think ‘I want money’, what do you want money for? Build a life for yourself and maybe even build a standard day for your future life. Try to include as much detail as possible such as sights, smells, where you are living, who you are living with, the tasks you have for the day ahead, etc.

 

#3 Repeat Daily – It is important not to lose sight of this vision because you have done this before and it has only led you to where you are now. It doesn’t mean you have to think of it every moment of the day but spend a minute or two building your vision and adding to it daily. This way you have a constant reminder of who you want to be and a thriving motivation to get there.

Ultimately, life can be hard but with a small amount of time each day you can be whoever you want to be. This isn’t the same as dreaming because you will be building a vision of an achievable life. Also, it doesn’t matter if you get five years down the line and you aren’t living that vision; as long as you are still making progress towards it, it could take 7, 10 or even 15 years. The point is, you will get there.

To some people, failure can quite literally be the end of the world. They try to lead their lives as close to ‘perfection’ as possible and if something goes wrong, they have failed and they struggle to get over it. To them, it proves that they are human and that things can go wrong but this is something that they don’t like or enjoy.

 

If you are reading this so far whilst nodding along, you have to realise that this isn’t a healthy way to live. You have to realise that there are certain things in life that you simply cannot control and so things will go wrong from time to time. However, this doesn’t mean that you have some sort of problem that you have to fix. The most important thing about failure is how you deal with it; of course, the easiest thing to do is let it get you down and dwell on how badly you have failed. Although this is the easier method, it definitely isn’t the best one.

Let’s say you have an interview for your dream job and you fail to get offered the role; you could be down and think ‘it’s all over’ OR you can find out where you went wrong and learn how to improve so you ensure you get the job next time. It is important to find out why you failed; in our example, did you fail because you failed to do enough research on the company? Was it because your resume wasn’t up to scratch? Whatever the reason for your failure, you can then treat it as a stepping stone towards growth to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

 

This is what’s known as ‘The Art of Failure’; knowing how to deal with failure is seen as an art because it can sometimes teach you more than success. If you want to succeed in life, you have to harness this power because you will be sure to hit some bumps along the way. If you find yourself failing often, see if there is a common denominator for your failure and find out how to fix it. Maybe it is your mindset; do you need to be more confident?
